Almost two years ago, the Cincinnati Bailliage was introduced to fine Lebanese cuisine by Professionnel du Vin Carmen Parks and she has been inundated with requests to return ever since.
This popular restaurant north of Cincinnati opened in 2012 and has been showered with praise from critics throughout the city. Owner Wassim Matar, former owner of the Lebanese Tavern in Washington, DC, is solely responsible for Phoenician Taverna’s overwhelming success. He has trained and oversees a staff that serves authentic, well prepared Lebanese food and delivers impeccable service.
This event took the form of a “dine-around” where each member and their guests brought a bottle of wine per person to be shared with the group. It was great fun for all of us to pair multiple wines with a wide variety of offerings such as dips, salads, lamb chops, kebabs, and quail all uniquely seasoned with middle eastern spices.
After our last visit, a number of our members became loyal regular customers and I am sure that this list will continue to grow.
May I suggest to Bailli George Elliott and Professionel du Vin Carmen Parks that we make this an annual or at least an every other year event?
